Terms and conditions
The agreement between you and Mizan. Written to describe what the service actually does, not to be unreadable.
What Mizan is
Mizan is an introduction service for people seeking marriage. It is not a browsing platform and has no public profiles: no member can search for, list, or look up another member. Introductions are proposed by a human matchmaker and shown only to the two people involved.
Who may use it
You must be at least 18 years old, legally free to marry, and seeking marriage for yourself. You may hold one account. Creating an account for someone else, or on behalf of someone who has not asked you to, is not permitted.
What you tell us must be true
Your answers, your stated marital history and your identity details must be accurate. Other people make decisions about their lives based on them. Material misrepresentation is grounds for removal, and where it has caused harm we may retain a record of the account and the reason.
Identity verification
Introductions require a verified identity. Verification is performed by a third-party provider and carries a one-time fee, set out on the pricing page. Your identity document and photograph go to that provider and never to us; we receive only the outcome. Verification confirms that you are who you say you are. It is not a background check, and asserts nothing about your character, criminal history, immigration status or marital status.
Conduct that ends your account immediately
Mizan prohibits human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and aiding, abetting or encouraging abuse of any kind. It prohibits the use of the service to reach minors, to solicit money, or to coerce, threaten or harass anyone. These are not warnings: an account is removed on the first substantiated instance, and where the law requires it, reported. The acceptable use policy sets out the full list and how to report.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee that you will be matched, that an introduction will be accepted, or that a marriage will result. Compatibility analysis is an aid to a human matchmaker's judgement, not a prediction. Nothing on this service is advice — religious, legal, financial or medical.
Your data and your right to leave
The privacy page states what is held and for how long, period by period. You can delete your account at any time; access ends immediately and data is removed or reduced on the schedule stated there. Deleting your account closes any live introduction, and the other person is told only that it closed.
Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove an account that breaches these terms or the acceptable use policy, that we reasonably believe is fraudulent, or where continuing would put another member at risk. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we say why.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, members are notified and asked to accept the new version before continuing. Consent is recorded against a version, so a change is never applied retroactively to a decision you made under the old one.
